Hagen VerlegerTypography & Book Design

Hagen Verleger is a Berlin-based graphic designer, editor, and researcher working mainly with artists, cultural institutions, and publishing houses. His emphasis is on editorial design, typography, and book design.

Hagen is available for freelance design work as well as artistic collaborations. Feel free to get in touch.

Hagen studied Communication Design focusing on typography and book design at Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel, supervised by Klaus Detjen, Annette le Fort, André Heers, and Petra Maria Meyer; and at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, supervised by Günter Karl Bose.

In addition to client work, his personal design and research work centers around topics such as metaphors of the human memory (especially the palimpsest), ephemeral typography, and authorship in design. He is currently pursuing these interests as a guest researcher at Dutch postgraduate institute Jan van Eyck Academie.
