Kr. Archive Space: In 2021, Kunstraum launched its “Archive Space,” dedicated to research and discourse related to its archive. The exhibition turns this workspace into an installation by placing a barrier and sign in front of it.

Kr. Artist’s: In the stairwell, visitors pass the names of all artists exhibited at Kunstraum since 1973 in chronological order. Questions about historical structures and programming decisions are being opened up.

Kr. Archive: Kunstraum’s archival files (approximately ten meters worth of shelf space) were brought from the archive into the exhibition space. Carefully packed into bundles, their destiny and use are uncertain.

Kr. Publications: Stacked up in transparent cases on a standing scale, the numerous publications of Kunstraum’s 50-year history are reduced to their sheer quantity. Not the content is shown, but the weight.

Kr. Trouvailles: In the storage room of the exhibition space, Verleger invited members of the board of Kunstraum to present an archival piece of their choice—together with personal statements which identify processes of selection, interpretation, and production of meaning as constitutive of an archive.

Kr. Spaces: The windows are dedicated to the institution’s exhibition venues: Since its founding, Kunstraum has been located in five places across Munich. At second glance, the infographic appears as incomplete and in process, inviting visitors to correct or expand the information where necessary.

Kr. Network(s): A fabric on the wall bears traces of Verleger’s year-long research in the archive: names and logos from Kunstraum’s correspondence are mapping an international network and postulate (fictitious) connections and hidden stories.
